Drawbridge

The UNSW Discord Verifier. It confirms that someone joining a society's Discord server is a UNSW student and gives them the server's verified role, automatically.

For students

Your society will give you a link ending in the society's short name, like /~apps/discord/csesoc/. Join the Discord server first. Then, on that page, enter your zID and zPass, type your Discord username, check the details, and accept the server rules. The verified role is added to you straight away.

For societies

A society executive can request a verifier for your server. You will need your Discord server ID, the name of the role to grant to verified students, the zIDs of up to two admins, and a contact email. A reviewer sets the verifier up and emails the admins the setup instructions and the admin key.

Once it exists, the documentation explains the student page and the admin page. On the admin page you can change the branding and rules students see, and view who has verified.

Privacy

• Your zPass is used only to confirm your identity with UNSW's login system. It is not stored.
• When you verify, your zID, name, UNSW email address, Discord username and Discord ID are stored, encrypted, against the server you verified into.
• That record can be read by the admins of that server using their admin key, and by Arc@UNSW staff and the service's maintainers where they need to.
• Each request to the service is also logged with its time, your IP address, your zID, the server involved, your Discord username and the outcome, so that problems and misuse can be traced. Passwords and keys are never logged. The logs are readable only by the maintainers and are overwritten on a rolling basis.
• Records are kept for as long as the server's verifier is registered. To have your record deleted, email the address below. You will be asked to leave the servers you verified into first.

Drawbridge is run for Arc@UNSW clubs and UNSW programs. It was written by Tom Kunc for CSESoc. The School of Computer Science and Engineering provides the hosting but does not operate the service.
